Tangible vs. intangible...

I create tangible items.  From raw materials, I cut, forge, weld, sand, drill, wax, stain and polish taking the original piece to a new haven.  You can pick these up, touch them, use them and they will last.  Visiting Petaluma's Maude and Good Gray, I was struck by the difference between these items I create so beautifully displayed among other well crafted wares that you can take with you as opposed to the songs I write that are intangible.  You can't pick up a song and run your hand along its edges, feel its weight, hang a scarf on it or serve cheese on it.  Yet, if the song touches you, you take it with you and it lasts.  In that sense, I create intangible items.

My thoughts for today.
